ITU Coach Education Progammes

ITU Coach Education Explained

Coach Education is deemed as being a vital link in the planning and development of the strategic plans pertaining to athlete development in the long term.
ITU offers opportunities for National Federations, established as well as emerging and developing federations, to become involved in global coach education accreditation and certification programs.
ITU supports the philosophy that athlete development is largely coach driven and with this in mind has developed a coach education curriculum coaches to service those National Federations that do not as yet have such a programme in place. Course materials have been developed by ITU Sport Development for use by National Federations.

To support those National Federations that do have such a programme in place ITU will provide the opportunity for these federations to get their current coach education programmes accredited by ITU.

These ITU programs include:

  1. ITU Community Triathlon Coaching Certificate
  2. ITU Competitive Triathlon Coach Certification
  3. ITU Facilitator Course
  4. National Federation Coach Education Accreditation Programme
  5. Recognition programme for National Federation Elite Coaches (pdf)
  6. Triathlon Performance Seminar (commencing 2008)
